Nicosia Development Agency (ANEL) is a non-profit Agency established by the Municipalities of Greater Nicosia (Strovolos, Aglantzia, Engomi, Latsia, Lakatamia, Yeri, Tseri, Dali & Ag. Dometios), Cyprus. The main objective of the Agency is to support its shareholders regarding the implementation of their development plans on every aspect of their interest. Members of ANEL are nine municipalities of the area of Nicosia. ANEL has a huge network of closely cooperating organizations from the governmental and the private/business sector. ANEL also possesses a lot of experience in implementation and management of different EU funded projects.

The Agency promotes its objectives through the design and implementation of a variety of projects, specializing in interregional cooperation on European level. One of these sectors is the linking of local authorities with the governmental organizations and the private sector for the design, production, use and dissemination of innovation. In addition, Nicosia Development Agency constitutes the link between the public authorities, the private sector and academia (universities).

Nicosia Development Agency operates as a consulting body for its member local authorities. In this framework, it designs, provides and offers different kind of training activities aiming at strengthening the capacities of the staff and elected representatives of its members. In addition, in cooperation with the local authorities, as well as with several other governmental institutions, it provides educational and training activities to the citizens in many sectors, including targeted training for improving the operation of private entities established in its area of intervention.

Building up on the project’s actions “Identification of competencies and job role profiles of Smart Cities DevOps professionals” and “Design and delivery of VET curricula combining digital and transferable skills, including a MOOC, open educational resources (OERs), e-learning, face-to-face training and work based experience”, ANEL will pilot the training in Cyprus in its 9 member-municipalities in order to evaluate the experience.
